The proposed new Jenny Thompson Aquatic Center, if built, would be located in Maglara park, and be named after the Olympic champion local swimmer.  The City Council has already lent tentative support for the project, which is estimated to bring in some $1.3 million dollars yearly in revenue.  It would also replace swimming pools already in operation in the city.  Earlier this week, the council heard an hour long presentation on the project, which would involve construction of a 46 thousand square foot facility.
