Zachariah Peterson's life was cut far too short when his camping trip went terribly wrong over the weekend.

According to Boston.com, the 23-year-old and his friend decided to set up camp on a ledge near the top of a waterfall along Tram Brook. The area was slippery and not authorized for activity. Peterson slipped and fell 250 feet down the waterfall around 11:30 pm Saturday night.

Fish and Game Lt. James Kneeland said:

“When you’re looking for a place to tent or camp, it’s probably better to just use one of the legal campgrounds that are located in and around the White Mountains. They’re developed for a reason"

My heart goes out to all who knew and loved Zachariah.
