The weather this weekend is going to be fabulous. Saturday is looking like sunshine and 80 and we hope to see you at Prescott Park. OK, let's be honest... Partly sunny and 65 might be better chowder weather but hey, it won't be raining. The Chowderfest concept is a simple one.  Some 30 years ago the folks at the park were looking for a fund-raiser. A food competition sounded like fun, but what food? Former WOKQ co-owner J.J. Jeffrey suggested that people in New England eat chowder and the WOKQ Chowderfest was born!

Thirty years later it's still going strong and we'd love to see you this Saturday. It will be a bit warm for chowder, but you'll taste some amazing recipes.  It ain't just clam any more. Our list of participants includes

  • Roger’s Redliner Diner
  • Newicks Lobster House
  • British Beer Co.
  • Portsmouth Gas Light Co.
  • Ri Ra Irish Pub
  • Hagan’s Grill
  • Portsmouth Brewery
  • Bob’s Clam Hut
  • Billy’s Chowder House
  • Martingale Wharf
  • Ipswich Clambake
Plus the Little Bay Oyster Company will be there doing a Raw Oyster Bar, as well as the oyster-shucking demo. Music will be provided by Houston Bernard and Karen and I will have some great prizes for the park to raffle off. It's a requested $14 donation at the gate and the funds all go to this year's production of "Shrek: The Musical". See you Saturday at 11:30 until the chowder is all gone.
