According to whav.net, local veterans were fed and shown some serious love at Maria’s Family Restaurant in downtown Haverhill, Massachusetts. The event was coordinated by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lorraine Post 29.

Maria's opened their Galleria Banquet Room for the event and donated gravy, vegetables, and salad. But it takes a village! It was a group effort to get over 500 hot meals served. The event would not have been possible without the donations from local businesses like  Market Basket, Peddlers Daughter, G’s and Joseph’s Trattoria. Each meal included barbeque chicken, mashed potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, gravy and a dinner roll.

VFW Junior Vice Commander Donald R. Jarvis spoke about what a success and a humbling experience this event was. It is definitely something they hope to repeat in the future. What a fantastic thing to do for the veterans in our community as we approach Veteran's day!

On behalf of all of us at WOKQ we want to thank all veterans of all branches: Your service made it possible for all of us to be the country we are today Thank you for your sacrifice, your bravery, and the example you set for us all. We salute you!
