Advertising Really Works! #AlexFromTarget, A Breezy Wednesday + Chesney/Aldean Tix

When is the last time you saw a commercial on TV or heard an ad on the radio and went out and bought the product they were advertising? Advertising does work because many listeners of The Morning Waking Crew have purchased items after seeing or hearing the ad.

This conversation came out of us chatting about Matthew McConaughey earlier this week and his car commercials. Lincoln has seen a significant spike in sales since those commercials have aired. However, I think this one is the best, by far!

In the governor's race, Democratic incumbent Maggie Hassan topped businessman Walt Havenstein to win a second term. The third Democrat to win was in the 2nd Congressional District where incumbent U.S. Rep. Annie Kuster defeated GOP state Rep. Marilinda Garcia. The only Democrat to lose was U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter in the 1st Congressional District, defeated by Frank Guinta in their so-called "threematch." It was the third time the two had campaigned against each other.

Gorham's longest service police chief is retiring after a 42-year career on the force.
Ronald Shephard's last day on the job was Tuesday. He started with the department as a police officer in 1972 and became police chief in 1995.
