Specifically the one located on Route One in Rye. Dear Lago's Ice Cream,

Thank you for being there every day this Summer. Thank you for the best banana ice cream around. Thank you for putting it in a waffle cone for me. Thank you for really knowing how to make a great chocolate frappe. Also, thank you for having OKQ on your outside speakers a whole lot this season, it's appreciated.

Now, about your sign out on Route 1... The part with the letters that you change. You've used it to talk about flavors, specials, events and for the most part you've been responsible sign owners. No typos and all good info. Until now. It's OK to change your hours, it's your business. It's also wise to put those hours on your sign. Summer is fading, but do you have to point it out with 'Now Closing At 9' on your sign?

I'm well aware that Summer must end, but why do you have to make it so obvious? Can we expect a 'closing at 8' notice soon? Will you further squeeze our Summer with signs telling us about 7 o'clock? 6 o'clock? All culminating in a giant "Ha Ha We're Closed" message?

You spend so much of the Summer making so many of us so happy, why spoil all that now with an actual countdown to Summer-geddon? Sure, change your hours as need be, but please quit the proclamation of when you are "now closing". I know your time for 2014 will eventually end with you opening at noon on some weekend day and unloading everything you've got in the freezers and shutting down until next year.

All too soon we'll be driving by looking at your snow filled parking lot with one driveway sized path plowed to the door (what's up with that?) and, in spite of the snow, anxiously awaiting your frozen goodness filled return.

I have to go now, I'm having a frappe-attack and you're not open until noon...
