Recent harvests of clams and mussels out of Maine are being recalled.

According to a report from the Portland Press Herald, the shellfish has tested positive for a marine neurotoxin that could possibly cause brain damage.

So far, there have been no reports of any illness attributed to the tainted mussels and/or clams.

The recall applies to mussels and mahogany quahogs harvested or wet-stored in the Jonesport area and clams harvested from Cranberry Point in Corea to Cow Point in Roque Bluffs. The recalled shellfish were harvested between September 25th-30th.
