Right now, the Hub may be #1 in sports, but may not be on the top of Amazon's power rankings.

Recent return visits to other cities have many wondering if the retail giant will settle into New England. According to USA Today, Amazon has made fresh visits to New York, Newark, New Jersey, and Chicago, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter who could not speak publicly. The same report also noted that they have followed up with other potential areas, such as Miami and the Washington, D.C. area.

If Amazon were to land in Boston, they would invest $5 billion and hire as many as 50,000 employees. The most likely fit would be Suffolk Downs, popular with its proximity to Logan airport.

However, there are housing obstacles. Boston would have to rapidly expand, something which isn't lost on officials. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and a coalition of more than a dozen other Boston area mayors announced recently they are looking to create 185,000 new units of housing across the region by 2030, according to NECN.

An announcement from Amazon is expected by the end of the year.
