Eugene Mirman, comedian and native of New England, thought he would enjoy a nice day in Portsmouth with his girlfriend last June. Unfortunately for him, the City of Portsmouth had other plans.

Did you know that it is illegal to back into a parking spot?!? Probably not because, as Mirman points out, "before visiting Portsmouth, you first go to the City Clerk's website, click on the City of Portsmouth Ordinances and look in Chapter Seven - Vehicles."

It is in this section that it says, "No vehicle shall remain backed up to the curb." Sadly, Eugene Mirman found out the hard way.

I am on record as disliking the tactics of parking enforcement officials, and I have to agree with Mirman on this issue.

Here is the letter in its entirety:

Mirman is no stranger to voicing his displeasure with other establishments. In 2008 Mirman wrote a legendary piece on Delta Airlines, and in 2011 Mirman wrote a scathing letter to Time Warner Cable. Both hilarious depictions of the ineptitude of big companies.
