National Cat Day took a scary turn for two New Hampshire felines.

Yesterday afternoon, another round of heavy thunderstorms and downpours ripped through the Granite State. According to the Concord Monitor, The Red Cross is helping two adults who, with their two cats, were displaced from their home in Federal Street due to flooding. Concord was one of the hardest hit areas in all of New England, with a unusually heavy amount of rain dumped in a short amount of time. How much? According to the Concord Monitor, a local volunteer group, CoCoRaHS registered reading of 3.31 inches over the 24 hours in Concord. In addition, a gauge in Dunbarton reported 1.44 inches, one in Northwood had one inch, and Weare barely saw one-third of an inch.

The recent heavy rains have provided a silver lining for much of drought riddled New Hampshire. According to the National Weather Service, the entire state has been removed from the drought category. Although, the state is still listed as "abnormally dry."
