(Etna, Maine) - Maine State Police now say over 75 vehicles were involved in a crash on snow-covered I-95 this morning.

The colissions began around 7:30 when heavy snow was falling in the area.  While there are no fatalities reported, 17 people were transported to Bangor area hospitals. Two are reported to have suffered serious injuries.

One veteran State Trooper described the scene as "a giant pile of metal".

Over 25 vehicles were involved in the initial crash, and the other vehicles either collided or went off the road trying to avoid colliding.

Vehicles involved in the crash include a school bus with three passengers who were shaken up, but not injured. there was also at least one tractor-trailer truck and a number of private vehicles.

I-95 Northbound was closed between Newport and Bangor.

34 year old Amy Brown was arrested yesterday in Barrington by the NH State Police Narcotics and Investigations Unit, charged and released on 5,000 dollars bail.
