Don’t Believe this Myth about Solo Cups

This chart about Red Solo cups seemed to make so much sense, but the truth is a little bit different.

They say don't believe everything you read on the internet and that is a piece of advice that you should always follow. Many of you have probably seen the Solo cups photo above in their Facebook Newsfeed and gone "Oh! That is neat." and carried on with your lives. Well, sadly, the information included in that picture is nothing but myth and speculation. Snopes.com has debunked the claim that the "lines on red Solo cups are markings to designate serving sizes of various kinds of alcohol." The company that makes Solo plastic cups, Dart Container Company, explained that the lines are for function only and do not relate to any measurements. They did provide their own humorous chart that jokingly explains the lines on their cups:
