Officials say the animals had been living in deplorable filth and most were not vaccinated or altered.

The cats are being checked for overall health and to determine if they are in need of medical intervention. Many are suffering from visible concerns including flea infestation, lack of socialization and upper respiratory infection. Several are pregnant.

Before being ready for adoption, the animals will need spay/neuter surgery, a series of shots and tests and time to recover and return to their true personalities apart from their neglect.

The SPCA is seeking donations of items to help care for the animals. The needs include non-clumping kitty litter and cat food, especially canned food.

Monetary donations are also accepted and are tax deductible.

Details are available at nhspca.org.
