Maria Colby is a bird specialist who operates Wings of the Dawn Wildlife Sanctuary in Henniker. She says a father and son used a hand-held net to capture the bird Sunday afternoon. Several other people helped carry the bird to Colby's car for transport.

The son had attempted to grab to bird earlier in the day, but the 5-foot tall male Emu bit him and ran off.

Emu's are the largest bird in the world.  Officials are still not sure who owns the Emu.
