(Portsmouth) -  The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces a continuation of the six month interim structural inspection at the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge in Portsmouth is scheduled to begin Monday, June 1, 2015 and continue through Friday, June 5, 2015 and Monday, June 8, 2015 if needed.

This bridge carries the US Route 1 Bypass over the Piscataqua River between Portsmouth, New Hampshire and Kittery, Maine.

The Long Bridge will have lane closures as needed, and as weather permits, from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm daily for up to six days.

Flag persons, electronic message signs, and warning signs will be used to notify motorists of the lane closure. Motorists traveling between Portsmouth and Kittery are asked to use alternate routes if possible to avoid delays.

In the event of adverse weather, the inspection work may be delayed until the next suitable workday.
