Officials say a 10 year old boy was swimming in the river around 6 last evening as his parents watched from shore. The boy was pulled under by the current, and his 31-year old father entered the water to save his son and also began to struggle. As both the father and son disappeared, the mother called 9-1-1.

The State Marine Patrol and Fish & Game officers joined local fire officials in the search, which was called off around 8:30 due to darkness.

The search area is just south of the Hannah Dustin Park & Ride below the US Route 3-4 Bridge.
