(Concord, NH) - Hunting and fishing license fees would go up next year under a proposal from the NH Fish & Game Department.

The increases were authorized by the legislature to fill a $1.2-million hole in the Fish & Game Department budget for the biennium.

Under the proposal, there would be a $10 increase in the cost of regular hunting and fishing licenses for both residents and non-residents.

There would also be a $10 fee for a license for residents 68 and over. Those are currently free.

There would also be increases for other licenses and guide permits.

The public will get a chance to speak out about the proposed fee hikes. Hearings will be held in late September in Lancaster, Keene, Portsmouth and Concord.
