PLYMOUTH,NH– The flood warning continues until this afternoon for the Pemigewasset River in Plymouth.  The river will continue to fall to below flood stage this morning. The weekend rain and warm temperatures caused some ice jams to form.

 

ALFRED, Maine (AP) - An investigation is underway after a man died while in the custody of the York County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say 49-year-old Jeffrey Andrew Noonan o fSaco died shortly after going into medical distress at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday. He had been taken for medical treatment the previous day.

Noonan had been arrested last Thursday on a warrant for failure to appear for a charge of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.

The death will be investigated by Maine State Police.

 

DURHAM,NH– A fire Sunday night caused minor damage to the Whittemore Center on the UNH campus in Durham.  The fire was reported just after 8:30 in the Hamel Rec Center and is believed to have originated in the men's sauna.  There were no injuries.

 

CONCORD,N.H.(AP) - New Hampshire's House is considering legalizing up to 1 ounce of marijuana for recreational use for anyone age 21 and older. The House votes Wednesday on a bill that proposes taxing the drug when it is sold at retail at a rate of $30 per ounce and letting people grow up to six marijuana plants in a controlled environment.

 

HOLLIS, Maine (AP) - Maine State Police say the father of a teenage driver who lost control of his van on slushy roads Saturday was one of the two people killed in the crash. Police say 49-year-old Peter Reynolds and 43-year-old Sherri Demelle, both of Limington, were killed in the Hollis crash Saturday afternoon. Reynolds' 17-year-old son, Zach Reynolds, suffered multiple injuries but is expected to survive.

 

 

 

 

NASHUA, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire police are looking for three suspects in connection with the near-fatal shooting of a Massachusetts man in Nashua. Nashua police say witnesses saw three men fleeing the scene of the Jan. 9 shooting on Rochette Avenue, which happened just before 9 p.m. They say 22-year-old Danny Vorn, of Lowell, Mass., was shot in the head and remains in stable but critical condition at Boston Medical Center.

 

FOXBORO, Mass.– The New England Patriots will be in Denver next weekend for the AFC Championship game.  The Patriots beat the Colts Saturday and the Broncos beat the Chargers Sunday.

San Francisco will be in Seattle for the NFC Title game.
