Florida Georgia Line are being accused of being anti-police in the days following weekend sets in Iowa and Wisconsin. The duo insist they have nothing but love and respect for police.

Fox News reports that prior to the July 22 concert at Country Thunder in Wisconsin, Florida Georgia Line or a spokesperson requested that no law enforcement be backstage while they were on the grounds. Country Thunder management denied the request and Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth was never given an explanation for the why the request was first made.

The next day the same issue popped up at the Jones County Fair in Monticello, Iowa. TMZ talked to an Iowa Sheriff who was told no uniformed police officers were allowed backstage during the July 23 show. Midway through the show the duo requested a police escort out of town but were denied.

"They asked for a police escort and I denied it," Sheriff Greg Graver told Fox News. "Part of it was because we're busy, and part of it was I didn't talk to them directly and I wished they would have reached out to me. They didn't want us backstage so we just opted out of the escort. It's not something that we're mandated to do."

The story also states that the band never asked for "zero police presence" as a man who claims to have worked Country Thunder claims.

The Boot spoke with a spokesperson for Florida Georgia Line who referred to the duo’s tweet and a statement at the Country Thunder Facebook page as the only official statements they would be making.

A Sunday afternoon post on the Country Thunder Facebook page also offered little detail, reading:

The organizers of Country Thunder have been made aware of recent comments on social media regarding FGL at the festival. We have seen the original post and none of it was true. We had an epic show Friday night with FGL, and an amazing weekend with all of the artists and fans !!

It wasn't made clear which post the festival team is calling the “original post.” Neither the festival nor FGL’s spokesperson provided an explanation of events from their perspective. Their next show in on Thursday in Billings, Mont. Fox News reports that no special requests of any kind have been made to local law enforcement.

Earlier this month, FGL's Tyler Hubbard expressed sadness after the Dallas Police shootings. He offered a new song called "Music Is Healing" as a way to work through the grief.
