From Portsmouth City Council to NY Times Best Seller

A top honor for a local councilor-turned writer

For former Portsmouth City Councilor Stefany Shaheen, diabetes is a subject that hits close to home.

Shaheen's daughter Elle has suffered from the disease for quite some time. Elle has a service dog named coach that can sense when her blood sugar is off.

Shaheen said that the dog had changed her daughter's life so much so, that she decided to pen a book all about the dog and it's positive effect on the family.

Today, that book is #6 on the New York Times Best Seller list.
