(Hampton, NH) - A Hampton Police Officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries in an accident Thursday morning.

Officer Paul Morais was responding to a report of domestic disturbance on Hampton Beach just before 10 am Thursday.  Officer Morais was southbound in the breakdown lane of Route 1-A approaching “C” Street when a northbound vehicle, being driven by Louis Picciuto, age 57 of Stoneham, Massachusetts,  was making a left hand turn onto “C” Street.  Officer Morais’ motorcycle collided with the passenger’s side rear door of Picciuto’s vehicle.

Officer Morais was thrown from the motorcycle and sustained minor injuries.  He was later transported to the Portsmouth Hospital by the Hampton Fire Department, where he was treated and released.  Picciuto was uninjured.

The New Hampshire State Police were assisted at the scene by the Hampton Police Department and the Hampton Fire Department.  The facts and circumstances that led to the accident are under investigation by Trooper First Class Nicholas Cyr of the New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A.  Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact TFC Cyr at (603) 223-8490.
