Hampton Standoff Ends With Arrest Of Massachusetts Fugitive

(Hampton, NH) - A Massachusetts fugitive was taken into custody after a standoff at a home in Hampton Thursday evening.

Hampton Police say they received a tip that 22 year old Michael Ellis of Haverhill was at the home on Fairfield Drive. A Swat team was deployed in an effort to take Ellis into custody, but he refused to exit the building.

After failing to convince the suspect to surrender, police deployed tear gas and entered the building, finding Ellis in hiding.

He was charged by Hampton Police  with being a Fugitive from Justice and Resisting Arrest.

Ellis is wanted in Massachusetts for 2 counts of Armed Robbery and 2 counts of Assault & Battery With a Deadly Weapon.
