Traveling during Thanksgiving week is always a nightmare, no matter what highway you need to take. New England roadways are going to be chock full of people trying to get to where they'll be spending the Thanksgiving holiday. Here's when you can expect the highest volume of commuters.

The volume generally starts to pick up around noontime on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, but the worst of it will hit Wednesday late morning and continue into Wednesday night.

Plus, this year, we have the snow coming on Tuesday that is sure to put a damper on some folks who planned to leave work early to beat the crowds.

Triple A of northern New England estimates over 54 million of us will travel either by plane, train or auto this holiday week and 2.4 million of us here in New England will commute 50 miles or more to get to our destination!

Safe travels and Happy Thanksgiving.
