Two people are dead, two others are injured following a wrong-way crash on Route 101 in Epping, New Hampshire.

According to Epping Fire and Rescue, the accident took place shortly before midnight on the westbound side of Route 101 near Exiit 7.

In all, three vehicles were involved. Officials say the driver of the wrong-way vehicle has been identified as 31-year-old Ryan Kittredge of Derry, NH. He's hospitalized with serious injuries. Authorities say two occupants of the vehicle that was struck head-on were both pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as John Johnson and Heidi Johnson of New Ipswich, New Hampshire. The driver of the third vehicle who sustained injuries has been identified as Andrew Neeper of Raymond.

A portion of the roadway between exit 7 and exit 6 was closed for several hours as accident reconstruction teams were on scene. Crews cleared the area around 5 o'clock this morning.

Multiple communities including Epping, Brentwood, Exeter and Raymond had emergency vehicles on scene. New Hampshire State Police will be investigating the crash. The names of the deceased were not immediately released.
