( Concord, N.H. ) - Hundreds of people are lining the New Hampshire statehouse halls to protest proposed cuts to education, health services and substance abuse treatment as part of the house's $11.2 billion budget.

The house will spend the day debating the budget bill. People protested the cuts by playing dead on the statehouse lawn to represent the 300 people  who died from substance abuse last year.

Today marks the start of a spring-and-summer-long reconstruction of one of Dovers main entry roads.Silver Street will be one-way inbound from the intersection of Arch Street to Central Avenue during the work, which will include new underground piping, curbs and sidewalks. Signs for outbound traffic will direct motorists to the detour routes.

The report of a shot fired in a neighborhood near Keene State College prompted a temporary lockdown on campus this morning.  The college went into immediate lockdown around 10 a.m. after Keene  police responded to a domestic incident involving a gun. The suspect was quickly caught. The lockdown was lifted just before 10:30 and no injuries were reported.
