On Monday, residents of the Pannaway Manor neighborhood turned to Portsmouth city officials asking them to join their fight in getting a sound barrier built.

They're looking to turn to state officials to install a sound barrier in the area adjacent to I-95.

According to Seacoastonline, residents say that when the highway was expanded in the 70's it should have included a sound barrier- something required for such an expansion today.

The sound barrier was never installed. Pannaway Manor are forced to keep their windows closed in order to drown out the noise of the busy highway that reportedly sees nearly 100,000 cars pass through on a daily basis.
