I Was a Big Supporter of Uber in Portsmouth, Until Saturday Night.
Uber says they're working on what went wrong and will reimburse me.
On Saturday night I hung out with some friends in Portsmouth. We had a few drinks and when it was time to retire I got a ride home. It wasn't as if I was blackout drunk by any means, it was just the smart decision to make.
Originally I hailed an Uber from my own phone until I realized that my friend had hailed an Uber from his phone and said we could share the ride since we live relatively close to each other. Knowing I would have to take the cancelled ride fee, which is usually around $10, I decided to bite the bullet and take the ride with my friend.
When I awoke Sunday, much to my surprise, I was charged for a ride. Not the ride I was originally going to take from Portsmouth to Dover, but a completely different ride for $81 to go from Portsmouth to Rochester!!! The driver only identified as "John" charged me for a trip I did not take.
Ride I never actually took:
I thought this may have been a cancellation fee, but no such fee was attached to this trip and according to Uber, I took this lengthy ride on Saturday, although I can assure you I did not.
I've reached out to Uber who have opened up an investigation on the matter. I'm still waiting for their response on reimbursement. Stay tuned!
