Star Wars: The Force Awakens doesn't hit movie theaters until December 18th but today Disney, owners of the characers deemed this "FORCE FRIDAY".

Today all the major toy manufacturers will start releasing their licensed toys to the marketplace.  WalMart, ToysRUs, Target and other chains are ready for the fans of the franchise to check out but more importantly buy the latest collection of memorabilia which includes The Millenium Falcon drone. The drone sell for around $100.

Fortune Magazine said Hasbro alone has paid the Disney company 225 Million dollars for merchandising rights:

“There’s a reason Hasbro is willing to put up serious money for the licensing rights. Take a look at the toymaker’s 1999 results, when the Star Wars “prequels” debuted. Hasbro’s annual revenue soared to $4.23 billion from $3.3 billion the prior year, bolstered by two big hits: Furby and Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Star Wars gear accounted for 36% of Hasbro’s U.S. revenue in 1999. The prior year? Just 13%.”

I know my kids had their fair share of "stuff" from the first coming of STAR WARS and somewhere my son has a Darth Vadar case filled with Luke and the original characters and a gigantic plastic Millenium Falcon which was played with and suffered some collateral damage,  but isn't that what toys are for?   Does everything have to be a collectable ?

Just remember if you are out there shopping, have a great and safe Labor Day weekend, to quote Obi-Wan Kenobi:

"May the force be with you".
