Though Joey Feek (of Joey + Rory) is fighting for her life, she still has bright spots in her days, especially when they include puppies. Husband and bandmate Rory Feek posted a photo on the duo's Facebook on Wednesday, showing his wife kissing a tiny puppy on the nose. He explains that some pups had come to visit with the couple's daughter Indiana, who has Down's syndrome, but that Joey got to get in on the adorable fun.

The country community has been rallying around Joey as she battles Stage 4 cervical cancer, and Rory has been updating fans via their blog This Life I Live through it all. The couple has stopped harsh treatments and are now trying to soak up the memories together and make the final stages of Rory’s life count.

“As Joey has had to learn to come to terms with what is happening to her body and what the future holds, it’s been important to her to share some things that she wants me and our girls to remember after she’s gone,” Rory told People.

The singer has been spending a lot of time with family and friends as they come together to share their love for each other, which Rory has called a “really beautiful time.”

The couple also recorded an album of hymns together — one Rory felt was meaningful enough to keep working on even after her diagnosis in June 2015. The album, titled Hymns That Are Important to Us, is now wrapped and is slated for release Feb. 14.

“A lot has taken place in a year’s time, but through it all, these songs have given me such strength,” Joey says of the hymns.
