Maine State Troopers Honored
(Vassalboro, Maine) - Trooper Lauren Edstrom of Biddeford has been named "Trooper of the Year" and the "Legendary Trooper" award has been given to Michael Vittum of Brewer.
Trooper Edstrom is a 21 year veteran of the Maine State Police. Before being promoted to detective in 2012, she patrolled York County for 15 years as a member of Troop A.
The Trooper of the Year award is the highest honor given to a member of the Maine State Police.
"Legendary Trooper" Michael Vittum retired from the Maine State Police force in 1986 after a 20 year career. He had been named "Trooper of the Year" in 1982.
The major awards were among those handed out Tuesday at the Maine Criminal Juctice Academy in Vassalboro.
