Mikey Martel, Update on Gibson, Spirit Medium Maureen Hancock Connects with Listeners

Long time listeners know this face!  The one and only Mikey Martel stopped by the radio station yesterday for a visit.  For those of you who don't know Mikey, he was Mark's co-host many years ago and is the author of the 'Mikey Martel...Show Stopping...Joke du Jour!

Mark was so excited to see him.

An Update on 'Gibson'

Earlier this week, we told you about 'Gibson,' Tom Dixon's dog.  Many of you know Tom from his years playing gigs all around New Hampshire and New England.  Tom has helped us out on numerous occasions by playing WOKQ events for free.  We thought we'd return the favor and post a link to 'Gibson's' Go Fund Me page. 

Gibson is home and slowly recovering from emergency surgery.

Maureen Hancock

Once again, Maureen joined us on air during the Morning Waking Crew and connected listeners with loved ones who have passed.

Maureen will be in Portsmouth this Saturday and there is still some tickets available for her event at the Music Hall in Portsmouth.

Day 4 of Bark Week Saw The NHSPCA In Studio Big

The NHSPCA joined The Morning Waking Crew and brought Mr. Wriedt (pronounced 'Right')

This little guy is just about 7 1/2 years old and is looking for a new forever home.  Check out all the furry friends the NHSPCA has for adoption and check out their fundraising efforts too!

Fire Threatens Oregon Homes
Two communities about 75 miles east of Portland, Oregon, are the latest to be threatened by wildfire. Residents of 275 homes in the small Columbia River Gorge community of Rowena were told to evacuate last night. Meanwhile, residents of nearly 90 homes in The Dalles have been told to be ready to leave. In all, there are 10 large fires burning across 143 square miles of timber and rangeland in Oregon.

Rochester Shooting Suspect Arrested In RI
Police say a man wanted in connection with a shooting in Rochester, has been arrested in Rhode Island. Rochester police had issued an arrest warrant for Kerry Joseph on a charge of first-degree assault with a firearm following last month's shooting. Police say a 19-year-old man was wounded.

Flags To Be Flown At Half-Staff
Flags will be flown at half-staff today to honor former New Hampshire First Lady Catherine Gregg, who died last week. Gregg was 96. She was the widow of former Governor Hugh Gregg and the mother of former Governor Judd Gregg, who also served as a congressman and U.S. senator.

Stupid News

A Reddit user was so perturbed with the kid in line behind him at a Burger King he decided to get even.  The Reddit user said the kid was yelling about wanting a pie, so the guy got to counter and ordered all the pies the fast food restaurant to go along with his burger.
