(Derry, NH) - A New Hampshire State Trooper stopped to help a disabled motorist and ended up making a drug arrest.

Trooper Malachi Hicks stopped to help 22 year old David Tanner of Franconia who had a flat tire on I-93 in South Derry Monday afternoon.

Trooper Hicks suspected there may be drugs in the vehicle and began to investigate when a brief struggle ensued. Several passers-by stopped to help the Trooper.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of marijuana.
Tanner was arrested and charged with Posession of a Controlled Drug, Posession With Intent to Distribute, Disobeying An Officer, Disorderly Conduct and Simple Assault.
