Search underway
The Coast Guard says a search is under way for possible missing mariners near the Isle of Shoals. Guard officials say someone aboard a boat named the Whiskey Rose sent out a distress signal last night, saying it was taking on water. The signal was tracked to the Isle of Shoals.

Record number apply to UNH
The University of New Hampshire says it saw a record number of would-be students applying to the university this year, more than 20,000. The total number of first-year applicants was up by nearly 1,000 from last year, with a top UNH official saying the school's visibility as the site of a presidential primary debate in February may have played a role in the rise.
