NASA Administrator Charles Bolden Jr. calls it "Day One of the Mars era." NASA's new Orion spacecraft thundered off the launch pad this morning on a high-stakes, unmanned test flight. For the first time in 42 years, NASA is sending a spacecraft built for humans farther than a couple hundred miles from Earth. Police involved shooting in Maine
A 55-year old woman died Thursday afternoon after pointing a gun at Police officers who opened fire.The York, Maine woman had been pursued by police after leaving her home on Ogunquit Road around 12:30. She was said to be armed and suicidal, so police set up spike mats and flattened her tires. She exited the disabled car and aimed a handgun at police officers who opened fire, killing her.The Maine Attorney Generals office is investigating the case.

Fire in Augusta sends 7 to the hospital
An overnight fire in Augusta has sent 7 people to a hospital this morning and forced nearly two dozen out of their homes in an apartment building. The city's fire chief says the cause of the blaze is not yet known with firefighters continuing to put out hot spots at the fire scene in the 18-unit building.
