Mali hotel attacked
A Malian military official says about 30 hostages have been freed after 10 gunmen attacked the Radisson Blu hotel in the capital, killing at least three people. The official says Malian special forces are going floor by floor, trying to make contact with the attackers. Air France says a dozen members of a plane crew are safe.

Deadline for presidential paperwork is today 
Today is the deadline for presidential candidates to file their paperwork to get on the New Hampshire primary ballot next year. The three major Democratic candidates already have filed their paperwork and so have nearly all of the Republicans. Among the crowded GOP field, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson is scheduled to file today.

Local building added to National Register of Historic Places
The Bartlett Roundhouse, built in 1887 for the storage and repair of locomotives, has been named to the National Register of Historic Places. The building was designed so that a 56-foot turntable in front of it could guide trains into the six separate repair stalls, where crews could perform maintenance.
