MWC Daily: Football Fans Getting Ready for a Big Weekend

By the end of this weekend, football fans will know which two teams will have their tickets punched to Superbowl 50. Here's hoping New England is one of those teams.

The New England Patriots pack up their gear today and head out to Denver for Sunday's game with the Broncos.  Meteorologist Rob Carolan says the forecast for Sunday's game in Denver (game time 3:05pm) is mostly cloudy with a high of 44. Maybe a chance of rain and/or snow showers.

Blizzard timing may be mitigating factor
Forecasters say the weekend timing and days of warning could help limit deaths and damage from a blizzard taking aim at the Eastern United States but it could still make the top 10 list of storms to hit the region. Snowfall as heavy as 1 to 3 inches an hour for 24 hours or more puts estimates at more than 2 feet for Washington, a foot to 18 inches for Philadelphia and 8 inches to a foot in New York.

Some democrats concerned over Clinton/Sanders feud 
Democrats are growing increasingly concerned that the Hillary Clinton-Bernie Sanders contest could turn into a months-long nomination fight damaging to the party. Most believe Clinton will still capture the nomination, but some say she's failing to respond effectively to Sanders. That could be both fueling his rise and strengthening the Republican argument against her if she's the Democratic candidate in the fall.

Hassan signs two substance abuse bills
Democratic Governor Maggie Hassan has signed two bills into law aimed at stemming the state's substance abuse crisis. The bills are the product of a task force created last fall to address substance abuse. Officials estimate 400 people died from drug overdoses last year. Lawmakers from both parties say improving prevention, treatment and recovery services is a top priority.
