Verizon workers on strike
Tens of thousands of Verizon landline and cable workers on the East Coast have walked off the job after working without a contract since August. The strike involves some 39,000 installers, customer service employees, repairmen and other service workers who are fighting against a pension freeze and the company's ability to make layoffs easier. Verizon says it's trained thousands of non-union employees to fill in during the strike.

NH unemployment rate drops
The state's unemployment rate dropped slightly last month to 2.6 percent. Officials say the preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was down one-tenth of a percentage point from the February rate of 2.7 percent. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for March of 2015 was 3.7 percent.
