Climate needs of poorer nations discussed
Renewable energy and the Great Green Wall were priority topics today as France's president met with 12 African leaders about the threats from climate change. France is promising 8 billion euros over the next five years for investment in renewable energy. The meeting also focused on an African Union initiative known as the Great Green Wall, to plant trees to combat the encroaching Sahara Desert.
Huggins Hospital to explore partnership with CMC
A small hospital in Wolfeboro is exploring an affiliation with a much larger medical center in Manchester. The governing boards at Huggins Hospital and Catholic Medical Center have approved a non-binding letter of intent to pursue an affiliation. Huggins Hospital has 25 beds and 400 employees, while CMC has 330 beds with 2,500 employees.
Kuster comes home
Democratic Congresswoman Annie Kuster has returned from a trip with other House members to Afghanistan and Kuwait, which included spending Thanksgiving with U.S. troops. Kuster is a member of the House Veterans Affairs Committee. She was one of six representatives receiving in-country updates on security, political transitions, and counter-terrorism initiatives.
