Former Police Chief dies in fire
An autopsy will be done today on a man identified by Andover officials as former town selectman and Nashua police chief Don Gross, who apparently died in a brush pile fire yesterday afternoon. Authorities say Gross was already dead by the time emergency crews arrived. Gross retired from Nashua's police force in 2004.

Maine woman indicted on manslaughter charges
A York, Maine, woman has been indicted on manslaughter charges in a drunk driving crash last August that killed a Massachusetts school teacher. Police say Carolyn Lee's suv hit Emily Zarnoch as she walked with her boyfriend.

Gun owner appeals judge ruling 
The owner of the gun used in the 1990 killing of Pamela Smart's husband in Derry is appealing a judge's ruling last month the state can keep the gun. Prosecutors have argued the state should keep control of Vance Lattime Sr.'s gun because of Smart's record and history of seeking parole.
