President expected to tighten gun laws
President Barack Obama takes aim today at gun violence and unregulated sales. At a meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch and other top law enforcement officials, Obama is expected to finalize a set of new executive actions tightening the nation's gun laws. An effort to expand background checks on gun sales tops the list.

Fatal Crash in Grantham
New Hampshire state police say a Massachusetts man is dead and a woman and child are injured after a one-car crash in Grantham. Authorities say it took more than an hour to extricate the victims from the 2003 Nissan Murano after it veered off Interstate 89 southbound and onto the median, striking several trees, at about 7:35 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the driver - 24-year-old Eliecarmiche Alvarado, of Rockland, Massachusetts - was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maine authorities to begin criminal investigation
Police in Maine say they will launch a criminal investigation into the disappearance of a 23-year-old man after he left a Portland bar early New Year's Day. Authorities say James Dyer of Saco was last seen by friends as they left the Pearl nightclub in Portland's Old Port about 3 a.m. Friday. When his friends turned around, Dyer was gone.
