U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says NATO members stand ready to step up military efforts against the Islamic State. Kerry, in Brussels, says he's asked foreign ministers from the 27 other members of the alliance to do more to strike at IS' core in Iraq and Syria and strangle its international networks.

Bangor police officer shots and kills man
Authorities say a Bangor police officer has shot and killed a man. Bangor Police Chief Mark Hathaway says the officer pulled over a car in a convenience store parking lot last night. Hathaway says the man got out of the car and took off running toward the woods behind the store. Witnesses say they heard multiple gunshots. Hathaway confirms the man was killed. The officer involved was not hurt.

Plans to be unveiled today for Briggs Community Center
An organization that helps nonprofits renovate buildings with donated materials and labor will unveil its renovation plans today for the Manchester Police Athletic League building named for a fallen officer. The Michael Briggs Community Center provides a safe and positive after-school environment for Manchester's inner-city youth. The 16,000 square-foot, 105-year-old center is in need of significant repairs.
