Obama visits Boston
President Barack Obama visited Boston on Labor Day to reinforce his ties with unions, fellow democrats and the city he knew as a law student. Speaking at the annual Union Breakfast yesterday, Obama announced an executive order requiring federal contractors to give their workers paid sick leave. It comes two months after a state sick leave law took effect.

One dead in Bedford fire
A fire in Bedford has claimed the life of one person. The blaze broke late Monday night at 23 Elk Drive. When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were pouring out of the basement of the home.The identity of the victim has not been released. The state's fire marshal's office is assisting in the investigation.

Fatal motorcycle crashes over holiday weekend
A Farmington man died in a weekend motorcycle accident in Lebanon, Maine. 40-year-old Randall Goslin was injured in the crash Sunday night when his bike left the road and hit a utility pole near the state line on Route 202. He died Sunday at Maine Medical Center. Two other people were killed Monday when their motorcycle was struck by a vehicle in Hiram, Maine. Husband and wife, Patrick and Margaret Vaillancourt were killed in that accident.
