Obama promises to veto bill targeting Syrian, Iraqi refugees
President Barack Obama is promising to veto a bill Republicans are pushing through the House that would create new hurdles for Syrian and Iraqi refugees trying to enter the United States. The White House says the bill won't improve security and will hamper efforts to help "some of the most vulnerable people in the world." But House Speaker Paul Ryan says, while the U.S. always has been a "compassionate nation," the top priority for lawmakers needs to be to "protect the American people."

Task Force set to review legislation
A task force charged with reviewing legislation that aims to tackle a devastating drug crisis in the state will begin work next Tuesday. A majority of House and Senate lawmakers voted yesterday during a special legislative session in favor of creating the task force. However, some lawmakers say now is the time for action, not more discussion.

Throwback Thursday

Earlier this week, Carly Simon finally revealed her hit song, 'You're So Vain,' is indeed about actor Warren Beatty...sort of. Simon said the second verse of the 1970's hit is about Beatty. She says the other two verses are about two other men. She says she won't reveal their names unless she tells the men that she wrote about! Carly's autobiography 'Boys in the Trees: A Memoir,' hits bookshelves next week.
