New Hampshire Is Home to Some of the Most Dangerous Jobs in the US

If you make your living working outdoors, your occupation may have made the top 5.

The the Bureau of Labor Statistics recently released their annual National Census Of Fatal Occupational Injuries report. The report shows that certain occupations carry a much higher risk of dying on the job than others, and many of them are right here in the Granite State.

Ken Kolosh, manager of statistics at the National Safety Council, told USA Today the occupations with the highest fatality rates tend to have one of three things in common: they involve working from dangerous heights where a fall would be fatal, frequent contact with dangerous machinery or driving for substantial periods.

Coming in at #1 on the list are fishers and related fishing workers. USA Today noted the physical nature of commercial fishing involves fishing nets, gear and slippery decks. Fishers. Also, workers can also be exposed to extreme weather. The latter can be extended to #2 on the list, which plays an even bigger role in New Hampshire; Logging. USA Today pointed out most of the work calls for remote locations, and far from medical aid.
