Mother Nature has dealt the folks in the southern plains of the U.S. a hard blow with flooding and tornados costing loss of lives and destruction of unimaginable magnitude.

WOKQ New Director Don Briand's daughter Elizabeth is in Texas working with the Red Cross as severe weather continues the flooding there.  Elizabeth is the Director of Government Relations for the American Rerd Cross in New York State.

Elizabeth explained to an Albany television station(NEWS10) that at least 800 Red Cross volunteers are involved in the relief situation and will offer the victims mental health support as well.

They plan on spending at least two weeks in the affected areas which has left at least 21 dead and 11 missing in Texas and Oklahoma.

Elizabeth stated that if she was in the families involved shoes she would want a helping hand as well.  The American Red Cross is always there to help and if you would like to support the victims of the storms contact the Red Cross of NH/VT.
