The Guiness Book of World Records holds something in common with Reba McEntire, Tom Bergeron and Bruce Willis. They all turn 60 this year.

A guilty pleasure to read, the World Records book was started by the Guiness brewing company in England to end fights in pubs over who held certain records in sometimes wild categories. Everyone needed to know how long the world's largest mustache was or see what the smallest or tallest human being looked like.  In more recent times some of the feats bordered on the bizarre but overall it was like a good novel when you picked it up to read and  you couldn't put it down. It is one of the best selling series of books of all time.

New Hampshire has it's share of page time in the record book. including at one time the worlds heaviest fish caught( 98 pound Atlantic cod of the Isles of Shoals in 1969), the worlds fastest wind at the Mt. Washington Observatory (231 mph in 1934, broken in Australia in 1996 at 253 mph), and of course the worlds largest lottery ticket in 2011.

CBS News reporter Debora Patta got to interview the editor Craig Glenday as well as some of the folks that have been featured in the past editions as well as the anniversary edition coming on sale September 10th.

We have to remember records are made to be broken.  I have to admit the longest fingernail category always creeped me out.  By the way, tallest man in the world currently is 8 foot 3 inches...for now anyway.
