(Durham, NH) - A poll conducted by the UNH Survey Center shows a majority of Granite State residents would favor a proposed law to legalize possession  of small amounts of marijuana and allow the growing of up to 6 plants at home, but would not legalize or tax the sale of pot.

The Granite State Poll results show that support was bi-partisan, with 61 per cent of Democrats, 56 per cent of Independents and 49 per cent of Republicans favoring the legislation.

A majority of those responding also say they favor keeping the minimum age for purchasing alcohol at 21 and tobacco products at 18.

The survey polled 566 randomly selected adults across New Hampshire earlier this month.
