It isn't what New Hampshire NASCAR fans were hoping to hear.

SB Nation reports that Speedway Motorsports Inc. has elected to transfer it's Fall New Hampshire Motor Speedway Monster Energy Cup Series race to Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The change will not take place until 2018.  New Hampshire Motor Speedway will still host both the July & September Cup Series races this year. Tickets for both races are available for purchase.

Las Vegas Motor Speedway officials made a “special announcement” scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday night.

So how could New Hampshire lose a race?  It's pretty simple actually.

Speedway Motorsports Inc. owns several race tracks on the NASCAR circuit.  Since they own New Hampshire and Las Vegas, they can elected to switch to having two races in Vegas.  NHMS is speculated to be the track from which they'll transfer a race date.
