No Bail For Submarine Arsonist
It's hard to believe this was four years ago.
Seacoastonline reports that Fury's has lost his second appeal in the arson case. He was held to his sentence of 17 years in prison sentence. He'll also have to pay back $400 million in restitution.
Fury maintains that, at the time, he was suffering from anxiety and panic attacks and was taking Klonopin and Ambien for sleep depravation. He also states the he doesn't even remember setting the fire due to the amount of drugs he was on.
However, Federal Prosecutor Darcie McElwee stated during sentencing that Fury "watched while others risked their lives to battle the fire, all while he stood safely on the pier."
At the time, Fury was a subcontractor at the Shipyard. He had only been on the job for 11 days.
