If you or someone you know uses the Massachusetts Turnpike, you need to be aware that come Friday night, electronic tolling will be in place, meaning no more toll booths!

Commuters should be ready for what MassDOT calls a 'short-term inconvenience,' as out-dated toll booths are demolished and electronic tolling goes into effect this Friday night on the Mass Pike.

Officials with the MassDOT said there will be 23 work zones on the Pike beginning Friday night and they are urging motorists to slow down and use caution. There will also be close to two-hundred State Police officers deployed each day throughout the construction phases.

The final cash payments at the tolls on the Pike will take place at 9:45 p.m. Friday, with the new electronic system going into effect fifteen minutes later.
